Diversity

Diversity is such a huge deal to me and it seems to be getting over looked more and more every day in the school systems and society itself. Every individual is different and every student is different and come from all different cultures and backgrounds. I want to be the teacher that realizes this and excepts this is how it is and let the student be proud of who they are. Kids can be so cruel these days as we have seen with all the bullying going on in the schools and on-line. I feel like the teachers can change a lot of this by stepping in and giving some advice and really being there to listen to the students. Not all students are just going to fit in, so make the curriculum where they can fit in a little better and maybe teach the rest of the class something new that they had never been introduced to before. Bring a wide variety to the curriculum in order to better serve the entire class.

Commitment

I will commit myself to my career and to my students when I am an Educator. Several teachers now days are only there for the paycheck and summers off. I never want to be like that. I want to within myself that I made the right decision in my career path. I hope if there is a day when I do not have a passion fro teaching I will leave that field. I want my students to feel my passion for teaching and to know I am committed to providing them with the best possible education I am capable of.

Consistency

I am a big fan of routine and organization. I know this from experience with my own family. I have a 4 year old daughter and she loves routine. As well as many children do. I have learned from being in the schools that most of the students like to know what is going on and when. It gives them a sense of entitlement and responsibility. My household and schoolwork flow much better on a routine and when I stay organized. It is a very good trait to have as a teacher.

Humor

In order to be an effective teacher I fel like you must always have a sense of humor. Let others know when you are wrong or when you mess up. Especially when teaching younger kids, it can turn a bad situation completly around. I love to laugh and I'm sure others do as well. It is good for the soul from what I hear.

Respect for Others

I have realized over time that if you do not respect yourself, you are not a good candidate for respecting others. I have learned that in life you must respect others to earn respect back. You must honest and maintain an honest relationship with your students and colleagues. Honesty is a good definition of character. I plan to be honest with myself as well as my students and peers.

Creativity

I want to remain to be creative in my classroom throughout. Always trying out and looking for new ideas. To remain open minded to new things and change. Technology brings up a new point for being creative in the classroom and I definitely want to incorporate it in my classroom.

My Teaching Philosophy

I will remain an honest teacher throughout my career. I have always been a firm believer in being a person of your word. Your word is everything to others. The teaching field especially, you do not want to receive a bad reputation, it could stay with you your entire career. Honesty with your students is also a good trait to have. Most students appreciate honesty and being a trustworthy teacher. This would lead into my commitment with my students as well as to my job. I will dedicate my hard work and extra effort to my position as an educator. I will not give up on my students or ever jeopardize their education for my selfishness. It is all a matter of respect for others, in every situation. In order to receive respect, you have to give respect. You also must respect yourself, without that you cannot respect others. There again going back to the good repour of you as an individual.
I will also stay educated on the developing technology as we all grow and cintinue to learn so in turn I can educate my students of what is going on and how to stay up with the times. I will make that one of my main commitments as a teacher.
